Cinque terre

Hi all, i am planning a trip to Cinque terre on June for 4 Days and wanted to know if someone has been there so i can get an idea of where to visit, where to stay and most important what to wear. For hiking i am planning to use some tights but thinking about the sea, is it possible/has someone seen guys wearing thongs in the area? Thanks
