In our world of kink communities, a fascinating pattern emerges among enthusiasts: the journey from lycra to rubber. How many lycra lovers have watched their fascination morph into a full-blown rubber fetish?
From my conversations with fellow kinksters, it seems a common trajectory, one that mirrors my own experience. Lycra, with its glossy sheen and form-fitting stretch, often serves as the gateway. It's accessible, everyday, think cycling shorts or compression gear, that awakens a sensory thrill in texture and constriction.
But why the evolution? Lycra introduces the allure of shiny, second-skin materials that hug the body, enhancing contours and evoking a sense of vulnerability and power. It's tactile yet breathable, allowing for subtle exploration without overwhelming commitment. As desires deepen, however, seekers crave escalation. Rubber latex in its purest form, amplifies everything. Similar sensation can be experienced when encapsulated within a heavily lubed tri-wetsuit.
For me, lycra was the spark, initially from cycling. Yet rubber transformed it into an obsession. It's not just clothing; it's a ritual of donning it requires lube, patience, and dominance. The intensity lies in its totality: sensory deprivation meets amplification, blurring lines between pleasure and endurance. While I still enjoy lycra's lightness and appearance, rubber demands submission, offering unparalleled depth.
Spot on. I totally identify with this trajectory. From being a boy, I was always fascinated by skin tight and shiny things. However, the entry point for these things were accessible and "acceptable" clothing like wetsuits and cycle gear. However, I always pined to also wear "unacceptable" (in society's view - based on my teenage opinion) clothing such as women's swimsuits, pantyhose and shiny aerobics gear. As a teenager in the 90s this was not really something I could get my hands on (though I did "borrow" some spandex gear from my mum or sister without their knowledge) . I do think tastes and kinks change and evolve, and with the event of the Internet and exposure to images of zentai and the discovery of latex based fetishes it opened the door to more exploration and more fascination with other materials and more full coverage and enclosure. At the same time, the ability to buy things like skinny jeans, Jodhpurs, superhero gear, and the acceptability of more lycra in men's sports meant that my fascination could grow and get deeper and broader. As a result, if it's generally tight and or shiny, I'm very happy. So whilst I maintain my fascination and love of the simple things - such as a good pair of cycle shorts or a triathlon wetsuit, my fetish personally has widened to the point where I'm generally happy to explore many types of clothing be it (PU) leather, latex, tight stretchy denim, lingerie and any kind of shiny, stretchy fabric.
I'd also add that my wet and messy fetish has developed in a similar way. As a kid I was turned on by seeing people get wet or gunged. Over time this is developed into an interest in getting wet or messy in multitude of different scenarios and wearing a multitude of different clothes, not just lycra or shiny gear. Swimming in a full business suit or rolling in the mud in motorcycle leathers or getting gunged in denim clothing is exciting for me now as slipping into a Spider-Man costume. Of course combining the two is the best feeling ever. Getting slimy in lube wearing a superman costume or swimming in cycle gear remains one of the ultimate kinks for me.
I like the look of rubber but I feel it's very impractical to wear and easy to break.
I love leather and lycra even though I don't eat meat leather is really sexy. I do think there are a lot of people with a fetish and it's more common than we think.
