A few days ago I decided to purge my underwear drawers of stuff I never wear. Some were bad purchases (undies from China never fit) or some I just decided I didn't like the style anymore. For the record, I have not changed waist sizes in 40 years, so I never outgrew any of my undies.
The first pass through only half a drawer yielded 50 pairs of undesirable knickers. If you figure an average price of $30 for a pair (that's conservative), that's $1,500 down the drain. Mind you, this was only half a draw of the "good stuff." I have another half to do as well as my second tier drawer I rarely go into. I don't really want to think about how many unwanted pairs are headed towards the dump and how much money that represents when I'm done spring cleaning.
This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode where Carrie was upset that she could not afford to buy an apartment because she had all of her money invested in shoes. Now, where's my Mr. Big to console me?
