I find it even more fascinating when spandex fetishists know what textile % they like due to feel and look. Some prefer matte spandex, others like more nylon, others like the blends that were popular in the 80s.

It's awesome that other guys are like this too. It's cool that you wrote about it. Since really young, I was just really sensitive to and in tune with how different clothes felt on my skin, & getting pleasurable sensations from it even before I was old enough to start experiencing true arousal. Speedos were the first thing that really got to me, and then leggings and other spandex. I noticed that too, how some things were silkier & stretchier & just felt more pleasurable. I wasn't around in the 80's & I wish I'd gotten to experience that. I don't own any vintage stuff but some guys I've met had some & I have to admit it feels really horny. For sure, the serious swimming speedos for swim team like Speedo Endurance and Tyr Durafast that are polyester blends don't feel as silky & stretchy & horny as nylon lycra spandex speedos. They last almost forever, but they're rougher material & not as stretchy & good feeling. Being a runner too, it's the same with running shorts. The new polyester blend shorts don't make my cock stand up like the all nylon soffe silkies.

I, too, look for the percentage of nylon/spandex you describe.  I find it to be the best material  and, although I do look for the shiny fabrics, the ratio is still my favorite.  It is getting harder to find, though.

My personal preference is the blend I was “introduced” to at the time due to manufacturing capabilities and fashion. 80/20 and in that style. I’m a child of the 80s. However back then we did have a few different weights. Some super thin, some thicker, some heavy duty. At the time my favorite brands back then were HIND, INsport, ASICS, Cliff Keen and of course Speedo. For me it’s been both textile and the tactile.

I also agree that shine is the most important to me. Then fabric content. I always say to myself…”if it doesn’t have that shine, I ain’t got the time.” Hahaha

This specific suit I have is the absolute gold standard in terms of what I think is the best “spandex” material. I wish I could tell you the exact material percentages, but it is perfectly stretchy, shiny and is the perfect fit and feel. I haven’t been able to find a suit that can replicate this material. It’s “thicker” material wise and less silky than amoresey, but is still relatively thin.

@j2thahill I've admired you in that suit for a long time. Glad to know it feels as good as you look in it :)

"Binge and purge" is a recognisable pattern for lots of kinksters - you indulge, it builds up, things spiral, there is release, you feel shame, you run away - until it starts again. The hard thing to do is conquer that shame and not let yourself fall into the spiral again. But it's also immensely liberating - don't stop trying to defeat it. You shouldn't feel shame for being into spandex - it's part of you, and it deserves acceptance!
