Hey, I'm trying to buy some women's one-piece swimsuits, like Speedo or Arena. Does anyone have advice on sizing? It's way more complicated than men's swimwear, and the sizing guide is confusing

If you're not sure, then I'd recommend getting some cheaper suits to try the sizing. I'm 5'4" with a 28" waist. I'm usually a size 30. A 32 is often ok, but can feel a bit "loose" in places (which can be disappointing if it's the ass!). I can sometimes squeeze into a 28, but they can be too tight. The style of swimsuit can make a difference too. The shoulder straps and the cut of the leg. Try a few and see how you get on - it'll be good fun 😊

Women usually have a bigger difference between waist and hip than men, so if the size chart has actual measurements I find it usually works better to go by hip size than waist size. Rather be extra tight around the waist than saggy arse

It's a bit hard to give specifics as US sizes are different to UK, but I'm a 32" waist and 5'11 and tend to find a size 12 suit fits me best (34" equivalent). Size 10 is 32" equivalent, size 14 is 36", etc. The sporty brands like Slazenger and Speedo are usually made to be quite tight, so you may find you need to size up a notch or two, unless you like them tight.  Women also tend to have a shorter upper body than men though, so suits can be a bit pinchy on the crotch if you don't size up.  If you go for a more casual style of suit they can have a bit more room in smaller sizes.Â
