Hi everyone
I hate being hairy and currently and relentlessly shave... chest, back, sack and crack.
Can anyone recommend another method... Waxing (male approved!)
Laser????
Pro's and Con's
Thanks
For years i’ve waxed some parts and shaved/trimmed others. I got the Braun IPL laser hair removal device from Amazon and really like it! Been using it for about 6 weeks on pubes and pits and it’s working really well.
TL;DR:
PRO LASER - Relatively painless, can treat large areas quickly. Will see good short term results. BUT is ultimately just a reduction, and will have varying degrees of hair regrowth (although hair will come back thinner and much sparser). Need lots of sessions and is expensive.
ELECTROLYSIS - Painful, can treat small areas slowly. Will see permanent results. Need lots of sessions and is expensive.
HOME IPL - I've not done it, but friends have had some decent results. However seems to be much slower and less effective than pro laser. The machine is a LOT less powerful.
Detailed version:
It depends on how smooth you want to be, and how much hair you have naturally. I hated ingrown hairs and bumpiness from shaving, and decided to have professional laser hair removal on the whole lower half of my body. I've had 16 sessions in total over the past 2 years, which has left my legs more or less hairless, and has significantly reduced the hair growth on my penis, balls and hole. But note that it is in fact a hair reduction, and I'll probably have small amounts of regrowth for the rest of my life. The hairs that grow back are much thinner, and far fewer, than before - so are far easier to shave/wax. You're encouraged to have an additional top up laser session every 6-12 months, although a lot of people buy their own IPL machine at this point in the treatment so as to top up at home more cheaply.
I'm now having electrolysis on my penis and balls, to be totally smooth, and so that I don't have to shave/wax the area again. Electrolysis is the only permanent laser hair removal treatment, and I've found it to be very effective - however it is painful. This makes the process slow (there's only so much electrolysis that you can stand in one session before asking to stop). I use a numbing cream, and have a very nice therapist who talks to me (distraction helps a lot). But I still really dread sessions. The shaft and balls aren't actually so bad, it's the pubic area that hurts a lot.
I started with a fairly smooth body, I'm mixed Asian so the amount of hair to remove was minimal... and even then it has been a process. I think it depends how smooth you want to be!
