Vacation in southern Italy

I’ll soon be going on vacation to Salerno, Italy and hope to spend a few beach days. Of course, all I’m bringing is part of my thong collection to wear on the beaches there. I’ve never been to Italy so I’m wondering if my thong will upset people.
