Suggestions and site feedback

WEBP is the new picture format that offers better compression for web-sites. But for those of us who want to save images in higher quality, or if our favorite picture program doesn't support WEBP-files . . . is there a way to get around this and save the images as jpg-files?

You would have to save the file then open it in “paint” on a Windows based machine , “preview” or adobe photoshop on a Mac . Then export it as a JPEG. It will however not be of higher quality as the programs can not generate pixels that are not there from the source file. The other alternative that I would not recommend are the dodgy online converters.

spandex party supports webp and jpeg. webp is slightly better in terms of compression that saves the platform hundreds of in a year 😅 not even joking. but it's not supported on a few browsers like safari. so we also have a fallback to the jpeg format. if you open up the image URL and replace ".webp" with ".jpeg" then you should get the other format as well.

Thanks Simon, that worked! You have yo right-click the image first, then choose to open the picture in a new tab, before renaming it. It's a little more work, but nice to know that it can be done!
