Every now and then I'm stumbling upon accounts that use a watermark in all their pictures that isn't in any way related to their spandexparty profile name. How are we to know that the person is legit? How do you guys handle that?

It would be good to be able to verify your profile in an official way. I thought it was possible to do so on this site but I can't find anything about it? 

We have a manual verification process that gives users this berified badge. For this to work, you'll upload a picture of yourself holding a piece of paper with your profile name on it. you don't need to show your face. it should be visible that it's the same person/gear that holds the piece of paper. then we have the verification working. if you'd like to be verified, message me and send a private photo with you and a piece of paper on it (no face pic required). I'll then do the profile verification process
