THE GOAL of this feature package was to:
1) Make our events more approachable
2) Help the community connect more easily through notifications and cross-references within the site
Think of "connection points" like broad events—say Maspalomas Pride. Just seeing who else is going can spark curiosity and lead to one-on-one or group chats. From there, the connections happen naturally. And when these events focus on something specific like Spandex: pure bliss.
IN THE FUTURE
I'm also working on ways to make events more visual:
- Users will be able to share event photos, with organiser approval (so nobody is shown without consent)
- Recurring events will have galleries from their past events, giving newcomers a better sense of what to expect
WHAT'S NEW
- Events
- Fully database-driven
- Option to browse past events
- Clearer cross-references between events and forum threads (comment sections)
- Notifications
- Now organised into groups: All, Profile, Media, Discussions
- Under "Discussions," you’ll get alerts when:
- Someone replies to a thread or event you’ve engaged with
- A new thread is created in your country board
- Forum
- New "Events & Groups" board
- Many older threads moved into their proper country boards within "Events & Groups
- Stronger links between events and forum threads
- Landing Page (for non-registered users)
